About Our Logo

From Chicken Farmer to the trademark of an icon.

In May 1951, the 29 year old strapping young hot rider from Texas was known all over the Southwest for his racing. One day he showed up at the track in a pair of striped bib overalls. People laughed, but Carroll Shelby won and a trademark was born.

"My chickens all had Limber-neck disease and I was going broke. I'd been vaccinating chickens and.. was running late. So I drove out to the racetrack, in my overalls. It was hot, about 110 degrees and I decided to leave the overalls on because I thought they would be cooler to drive in. I won the race and everyone giggled and laughed, but they ran my picture in the paper in those overalls. I decided, shoot this is a pretty good deal, and I just kept on doing it."
