Shelby Terlingua Winner Announced.

GARDENA, Calif. – Nov. 19, 2008 Matt Holzmann of Santa Ana, Calif., received the keys to a new 2008 Terlingua Racing Team Shelby Mustang after winning the 3nd Annual Win-a-Shelby raffle contest benefiting the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation.  The V6 supercharged, 375 horsepower pony car was delivered by auto icon Carroll Shelby at the Foundation’s headquarters in Gardena, Calif.  The Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation helps children worldwide battle life-threatening illnesses while promoting the importance of organ and tissue donation.

“The raffle contest was a great success, thanks to the appeal of the new-age Terlingua Mustang and hard work of my staff at the Foundation,” said Shelby, President of the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation.  “That little Shelby is one of the meanest cars on the road and really salutes the Terlingua legacy we started back in the 1960s.  Mr. Holzmann has purchased tickets for the last two raffle contests, so we’re pleased that his ticket was drawn this year.”

The Foundation displayed the Terlingua Shelby Mustang and sold raffle tickets at various events throughout the year.  Holzmann, president of electronics and chemical processing distributor Christopher Associates Inc., purchased the winning ticket on the Foundation’s Web site in February.  Eight year old Danny Carroll of Houston drew Holzmann’s raffle ticket during the Shelby Bull Run in Terlingua, Texas, in September.  Danny is a Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor and devoted Shelby fan.

“Winning the Terlingua Mustang has been an amazing experience,” explained Holzmann.  “In addition to getting the keys to my dream car, I met Mr. Shelby for the first time.  His influence on the automotive industry and children throughout the world is truly inspiring.  My next step is to join Team Shelby to get the full Shelby experience.”

Offered exclusively through Shelby Automobiles, the Terlingua Racing Team post-title package for the V6 Ford Mustang includes exciting performance enhancements and striking visual cues.  The Shelby features significant handling and braking improvements, including a deep draw hood, 20” anthracite “Razor” wheels and a host of styling changes, including the famous Terlingua rabbit.  Packages are applied at official factory mod shops in the United States and Canada.

The Terlingua Racing Team began when Carroll Shelby turned the Mustang into a race winner with a competition version of the Shelby GT350.  About that time, Shelby and a few friends were enjoying “the Rat Pack” lifestyle in the Texas ghost town of Terlingua.  To symbolize their philosophy, artist Bill Neale designed “Lucifer”, the black and yellow logo with a rabbit holding his paw in the air.  In 2007, Shelby Automobiles returned the Terlingua Racing Team name to prominence with the announcement of a limited series of packages for Ford Mustangs and Shelby Cobras.

The Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation will announce plans for the 2009 Win-a-Shelby raffle contest shortly.
