GARDENA, Calif. – Jan. 19, 2012 – The Carroll Shelby Foundation is offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a 50th anniversary Shelby Cobra. Throughout 2012, which marks the golden anniversary of the Shelby Cobra and Shelby American, people can enter a raffle for the chance to put this rare vehicle in their own garage. The 50th Shelby Cobra up for raffle will make its first appearance at Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction™ in Scottsdale from Jan. 17-22, 2012.

 “50 years have passed since the Cobra was built, a milestone that deserves recognition and celebration,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “After last year’s announcement at Barrett-Jackson of the 50th anniversary Shelby Cobra, the vehicle sold out within hours. Since no more will be built, this raffle is the final opportunity to walk away with a true piece of automotive history and one of the most iconic sports cars ever built.”  

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which was established by automotive icon Carroll Shelby to provide financial support for children battling life-threatening illnesses and to promote continuing education.

To celebrate five decades of high performance, only 50 of these limited edition continuation Cobras will be built. Painted “Shelby black” and filled with a premium wine colored leather interior, the anniversary car vehicle will sport special badges and wire wheels. This car will be powered by a small block Ford and connected to a five-speed transmission.

Touring the country this year, the limited-edition Shelby Cobra raffle car is tentatively scheduled to appear at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance, the Dana Point Concours d’Elegance and Barrett-Jackson in Orange County.

For a ticket price of $25, or $100 for five tickets, participants can place their name in the drawing.  The winner will be announced in January 2013.  All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Carroll Shelby Foundation.  For more information, please visit www.winashelby.org.

The Carroll Shelby Foundation sponsored it’s annual “Shelby’s Sleigh” toy drive this year offering to help out local car clubs with their quest to brighten a child’s day with a toy for the Holidays.

“The holidays should be a time of joy for every child, but for some it can be a tough time both emotionally and financially for families when they have a child in the hospital,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation.  “We wanted to ease some of that burden.  That’s why we’re teaming up with car clubs across the country to collect as many toys and gifts as possible for the kids. 

 Established by automotive icon and racing legend, Carroll Shelby, the Carroll Shelby Foundation will kick-off its 2^nd Holiday Toy Drive today.  The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit organization, will encourage national and local car clubs to collect toys for deserving children’s hospitals and charities across the country.  The goal is to spread joy by helping clubs collect as many toys as possible to give to children in need during the holiday season.

 Each car club will collect toys and deliver them to the local charity or hospital of their choice.  The car club will set up the toy drive, collection and delivery times with its chosen organization.  The Carroll Shelby Foundation will sponsor these clubs by providing an autographed Shelby Collectible diecast as an incentive to encourage participation.  In addition, each vehicle that is part of the “special delivery” will receive an official Shelby decal for their car.  The first 300 members to sign up for the holiday toy drive will also receive a Shelby poster. 

 “We had such a positive response from car clubs across the country last year that we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to plan another toy drive,” added Shreeves.  “By playing ‘Santa Shelby’ this campaign will help spread joy to children everywhere.”

Car clubs can participate by logging on to the Carroll Shelby Foundation website or Shelby Nation, completing a registration form and returning by email (jenni@cscf.org) or fax at (310) 538-0419.  The last day to register is Fri., Dec. 2.  

“What better way to celebrate the season of giving than by bringing a smile to a child’s face,” added Shreeves.  “For many of these kids, it may help jump start their road to recovery.” 

GARDENA, Calif. – Oct. 14, 2011 – The Carroll Shelby Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to children and medical institutions battling life-threatening diseases and advancing continuing education for today’s youth, will donate two go karts with hand controls to Karting2Live during CalSpeed Karting’s Machismo 500 endurance race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. PST. The event is scheduled to coincide with the IZOD IndyCar World Championships this weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Karting2Live is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that utilizes a karting program to push the boundary of possibility for those who need to drive with special hand controlled devices.

“One of the Foundation’s passions is to team up with other amazing charities to bring a smile to a child’s face or to help make dreams come true,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “Through the donation of these two Shelby-inspired go karts to Karting2Live, we’ll do just that. These karts will allow those with spinal cord injuries feel the rush of adrenaline when taking each corner of a track at full speed. Now others will have the chance to experience the exhilaration that Carroll felt when he sat in the driver’s seat of a race car.”

 Built by Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, Calif., the two karts were outfitted with hand controls by founder of Karting2Live, Eric Lazar. The kart’s logos and appearance were designed Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. (CSBI:PK) in Las Vegas, with the help of the team at 702 Graphics. One kart resembles a Shelby GT500 Super Snake and the other a Shelby GT350.

Both karts will be handed over to Karting2Live for its Arrive and Drive program by the Carroll Shelby Foundation and Shelby American Inc. The presentation will take place during the opening ceremony, on the finish line, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring, prior to the start of the Machismo 500, a 12 hour karting endurance race.

“These types of donations allow those with disabilities feel a sense of independence,” added Eric Lazar, founder of Karting2Live. “We’re grateful the Carroll Shelby Foundation provided us with not only one kart, but two karts with hand controls. This is a truly special donation and both karts will definitely be put to great use. We can’t wait to put our first karter in the driver’s seat.”

Karting2Live was created to show physically challenged individuals that through karting anything is possible post injury. Karting2Live is currently trying to reach its goal of having a fleet of 10 karts with hand controls for its Arrive and Drive program.
